Our Purposes

Challenge the local church to begin outreaching to the disabled community.

Statistics show us that 19% of the United States population has some form of disability. 10% of the population has a moderate to severe disability while the other 9% are mild to moderate. The church in America presently does not seek to reach this mission field. Shepherd's Staff strives to reveal this segment of society. Included in revealing this segment of society is to help it begin to incorporate a ministry to serve not only the disabled outside the church. But to equip the church to minister to the disabled inside the church by teaching how to make the church "Disabled Friendly". This can be done through "assimilation" or "separate and minister to disabled in their own settings". The disabled community has a lot to offer to churches and it's Shepherd's staff goal to assist the church in discipling and equipping the local church to bring this segment of the community to a point where they can serve Christ in some capacity in its' local church body. People who are developmentally disabled, cognitive delayed (mental retardation), Down Syndrome, etc… People are physically disabled by accident, injury, disease, brain trauma, or other birth related issues such as cerebral palsy, spinal bifida, etc….Unseen disabilities such as mental illness, environmental illness, chronic pain or chronic fatigue. We believe this is the largest unreached people group in the Nation.

To support disabled churches and outreaches by praying, serving, fellow-shipping and preaching at their ministries.

This includes a blog that allows these ministers to share different tips on ministering to the disabled. We've been involved in coming alongside Pastors and Para-Church ministries that minister specifically to disabled individuals (often times family members and caregivers participate with the disabled individual). Coming alongside includes helping with leadership retreats, preaching in various locations for disabled churches, helping to staff and preaching at various Disabled Camp Meetings and fellowshipping with and praying with disabled ministers at a annual fellowship time in Chicago with ministers throughout the United States and Canada.

To minister and teach the disabled that they are a member of God's family and can serve God in some capacity. This includes doing chaplaincy at International Paralympic Events.

Shepherd's Staff ministries will teach how to deal with living life with a disability. We know that the disabled do have a valued place in the family of God and can serve in their local church. It is Shepherd's Staff mission to reaffirm to the disabled that God does love them and that they are truly valued in the eyes of God. We also support Paralympic Athletes in their endeavor to fulfill their dreams in the Paralympic Sport they participate. As a chaplain we support those athletes Spiritually and Emotionally at their events.
